Kodak is sure doing some impressive stuff. The Nexpress with the 5th toner tower offers some very amazing capabilities. Adding red, green or blue toner drastically extends the typical cmyk color gamut of a digital press (toner based). Additionally the clear toner represents some significantly unique capabilities.

Use the clear toner for watermarks, security marks, the appearance of uv coating, the ability with an offline oven to add a high gloss finish by additionally heating that clear toner.

The Kodak rip is a bit limiting and Kodak continues to say that the Nexstation is better than the Creo. They need to get a clue and realize the Creo is the better rip. If/or when they do that, they will be offering an amazing product to the market.

The Nexpress is a little slower than the Xerox Igen which does represent a production challenge.

Another major limitation or at least obstacle is how the Nexpress with the Nexstation handles variable print. No VIPP support. PPML is supported, but no one knows the language and no apps already exist in it. How do you get past this?
