MS Virtual Server 2005

Posted by Administrator on Oct 10, 2005

I have been working with MS Virtual Server 2005 a lot recently. I must say, overall it is a nice and efficient solution. Although it has some limitations that do not exist in VMWare, for the overall cost it is a good solution.

I am running five servers on one server. The box has a few IDE hard drives, 4 gig of memory and a 2.8 ghz processor. Aside from the memory, it is not an impressive box, but it runs all the servers with surprisingly high performance.

Google Sidebar

Posted by Administrator on Oct 8, 2005

I have been using Google’s Sidebar for a few weeks now integrated with Desktop Search 2. I love it, it is really convenient and very customizable. I was concerned that it might carry with it to much overhead, but that has not been the case.

It is a great way to get news, stock info, monitor email, monitor google talk, etc.

Google is taking over the world, we may as well embrace it!

Itunes - Motorolla Phone

Posted by Administrator on Oct 8, 2005

Apple with Motorolla released an Itunes capable phone. The ROKR is available only with cellular service through Cingular. This just seems like a wasteful purchase. At approximately $250 for the phone, you can only store 100 songs!

This is not because of a hardware limitation (i.e. storage capacity - which is never disclosed), but rather a software limit put in place by either Apple or Motorola (the maker of the phone). No one has much to say about why.

Bottom line, really lame product, don’t buy. If you want music on your phone that badly, buy a PDA phone, an appropriate memory stick and store your music there. It will be better and hold a lot more.
