Google’s Domination of the Internet

Robert Cringley at the PBS might be on to something. Naming Google as Google-Mart, begins to put Google’s entire corporation into context. Google, focusing on their strengths and adequately utilizing their resources could become the internet that we all use in the future.
I personally would really like to see one of Google’s mobile datacenters first hand. The idea of mobile data centers is not new; however, it has never been done to this extreme before. Couple that with the access to fiber all around the world and Google certainly could take over. The idea of distributing web content across their own fiber network to local data centers feeding top level ISPs would dramatically improve the web’s performance.
Even more impressive and potentially scary is how much information google would have access to. Google has already developed gigantic data libraries on millions of people. With more localized access to end users, those libraries would only grow.
Fantasy Football

I sure wish I had a good team this year! My first season in this league was great. I won it all, ever since then, it has been all down hill. I am pleased that the Vikings finally got rid of Randy Moss; however, since he is one of my recievers I would still like to see him scoring some touchdowns!
McNabb was not too bad for me this season, but out this week for rib and groin injuries is not helping matters. Tiki Barber is doing well, which is critical since I have no other running backs worth squat.
Well, hopefully I can draft a better team next season.
Maybe it is time to learn VPS

I have recently had some indepth discussions with a couple of Creo analysts who have intrigued me on the potential of VPS as an alternative to PPML and possibly someday as an alternative to VIPP.
Over the next couple months I hope to learn VPS well enough to hand code production work. We’ll see if it is all it is cracked up to be.
Comcast Broadband Service

I have been a broadband subscriber for some time now; until the last couple of days I wouldn’t have anything bad to say. Unfortunately that has recently changed. For the last few days, all my internet traffic is being bounced around the comcast network! A trace route that previously took 4 hops now takes 17. 9 of which are now extra hops within the comcast network.
Overall this has not drastically impacted my web browsing performance. Unfortunately it has drastically impacted services like Skype and Google Talk. Both have been choppy and unuseable. Hopefully Comcast will have this issue resolved soon.
IBM x41 Tablet

I have now been using IBM’s tablet PC for approximately 2 weeks now. I really like it. It is a great way to work. The traditional notebook functionality is rather common and good. IBM has always manufactured high quality notebook computers. Nothing has changed now that IBM has shared that portion of the business with Lenovo.
