The wonders of EVDO and other cellular wireless internet solutions.

Posted by Administrator on Mar 28, 2006

In a day and age where connectivity is everything Sprint and other carriers have done an excellent shot making connectivity functional and cost effective.

Plans, like mine offered by Sprint, provide significant funtionality from the road.

Though the service is not perfect, it is definately good. Sometimes it is slow, sometimes you cannot get signal; the list goes on. I have not however experienced problems in any major airport or major city except when at sites built underground or in significant fortresses that don’t facilitate phone signal at all.

A solution similar to these is a must for anyone on the road, whether that be in the care around a metro area or across the country one airport at a time.

Should Google Desktop be banned?

Posted by Administrator on Mar 15, 2006

UK IT bosses are already taking measures to ban employees from downloading Google’s Desktop search software on PCs and laptops because of the security risk to corporate data.

It seems as though Google may have finally gone to far. It is a fine line between feature and threat / risk. The idea and concept of a desktop search is good; however, Google needs to consider the ramifications to the corporate world of what they are developing.

France to Apple: Open up ITunes or Shut Down!

Posted by Administrator on Mar 13, 2006

It is nice to see someone is trying to force the music industry to work with it’s consumers. Preventing retailers (who are using influenced by labels) from restricting how you can use your purchased copies of music is getting out of hand. Laws restricting your ability to fairly use what you have purchased need to be changed.

France is forcing Apple to open its iTunes online music store and enable consumers to download songs onto devices other than the computer maker’s popular iPod player. If not, they would have to shut down the ITunes store in France!

Netflix

Posted by Administrator on Mar 13, 2006

I have been using netflix for the past month and am really pleased. Talk about a great way to get reasonably priced movie rentals.

3 movies for $18 is $6 a movie per month. If you manage to turn those one during the month, you are down to $3 per rental. I cannot rent a dvd anywhere around her for 2 weeks for $3. Not to mention if you get new ones every week you can be down to $1.50! That is cheap and not having late fees is nice.

Wow! Gamefly is really slow.

Posted by Administrator on Mar 13, 2006

I am not ready to give up on it yet, as I have not yet found a suitable alternative. I like the idea and they recently starting giving away rewards, points or something like that based on length of subscription which is nice. I just wish they could distribute product more quickly.
