” Liquid ” Body Armor
Posted by Administrator on Jul 31, 2006
Armor Holdings Inc. (AH ) aims to be selling what he describes as “liquid armor” — garments constructed from layers of tough fibers and fluid polymers — to prison guards. By the end of 2007, he hopes, police and maybe soldiers will begin wearing the company’s new protective gear as well.
This seems really interesting. If you have ever watched high speed movies of a bullet going through water you have seen that liquid has one of the best stopping capabilities. It makes sense that could be adapted to liquid polymers for armor. Definately seems interesting.
Smoking with young kids in vehicle banned under bill
Posted by Administrator on Jul 30, 2006
Arkansas has passed a bill banning smoking in your own vehicle if you have children (7 and under) with you. Anti-smoking activists are pursuing an “informal, unorganized and quiet movement toward making it a criminal act to smoke around kids” under any circumstances, including in parents’ own homes, which would be categorized as child abuse.
Now this makes a lot more sense than banning smoking in a bar (where kids have no business being). It is rather sad that Arkansas is leading the way! I am all for protecting children in cars and homes; however, let’s not forget that there are some places that kids should not be and that smoking is okay (outdoors).

Prepay and Pay at the Pump Gas Sucks!
Posted by Administrator on Jul 20, 2006
I am sick and tired of gas stations that require pay at the pump or prepay inside! I know gas is expensive and people can not be trusted, but we should be able to find a better way to handle the problem of drive offs. Hmmm…maybe cameras grabbing plates. Oh wait, they already have that! Sure, it might be necessary in the evenings and overnight, but all day, please. Both are nice options to offer, but you should not prevent the good old “pay inside” after pumping.
I hate nothing more than having to pay at the pump and then run in for my receipt or to quick buy something. Furthermore, it is a really bad idea to trust the attendent not to copy your cards information while leaving it with them and no one has figured out how to tell me how much it will cost me to fill up my tank before I actually do it.
Effective immediately, I am done with those gas stations. They can do without my business. I encourage you to take the same stand. I really hate the inconvenience.
