Dell is buying EqualLogic!

Dell is buying Equal Logic one of the best iSCSI SAN solution manufactures.
This is definitely exciting. The press release on Dell’s website indicates intentions to integrate functionality from the Equal Logic’s products into the PowerVault line of storage products currently offered by Dell.
This is also appealing to see that the support, maintenance and warranty of the product could be wrapped into Dell’s existing service offering. Which has proven itself time and time again to me. It seems as though the sale is going to take a long time before it is final, which is unfortunate. You never know though, things could speed up.
MacBook Pro

Well, I am finally a mac user. Or at least I am trying to learn to become one. I recently started using a MacBook Pro, not sure how I feel about osx, but wow, the notebook has power! It boots in 15 seconds! Windows through parallels loads in no time.
I always knew that macs were different, but the geez, some things just don’t make sense. Though even harder to get used is going back to the touch pad.
I wish there was a better way of organizing programs than having them all in the dock or having to use spot light. I want a start button!

IBM (Lenovo) biometrics (fingerprint scanner)

IBM / Lenovo has been implementing biometrics in the form of fingerprint readers. Currently they are including fingerprint readers on models within the:
I have been using the fingerprint reader on my X41 Tablet and T43 Notebook. It is incredibly functional, easy to setup and secure. It is easier to enforce security rules. For instance, computer locking after only a few minutes of inactivity is less of a burden. On the tablet it is incredibly useful. Entering a complex password would be difficult with the digitizer, the fingerprint scanner allows me to maintain a complex password.

I have now been using IBM’s tablet PC for approximately 2 weeks now. I really like it. It is a great way to work. The traditional notebook functionality is rather common and good. IBM has always manufactured high quality notebook computers. Nothing has changed now that IBM has shared that portion of the business with Lenovo.
