Non friendly email signatures!

Posted by Administrator on Nov 26, 2007

Today I realized there is nothing more annoying than phone numbers in email signatures that do not properly select / dial from smart phones / blackberries / etc.

People need to lose the parenthesis when putting there phone number in the signature!

(555) 555-1324 when clicked on with a blackberry or otherwise will only dial 555-1234

If the number was displayed as 555-555-1234 or 555.555.1234 there would not be a problem.

Why can’t people give up on the parenthesis?

Also on this note, don’t include an image in your signature. Some of us do not like seeing an attachment on every email. Just type in the company name!

Anyone else having problems with the new Gmail?

Posted by Administrator on Nov 16, 2007

Well, ever since I have been using the “newer Gmail” I am greeted by this screen:

Though it is not that big of a deal and I am always able to get into the site immediately after refreshing, it sure is annoying.

Great affordable mac application for capturing video onscreen

Posted by Administrator on Nov 13, 2007

I recently had the need to record a video of some computer activity from my computer. I did it using iShowU which is a great video capture application. I was able to quickly and easily record a video of the application and save it as a quicktime movie file in no time.

The application has some nice functionality for setting up recording areas, moving the recording area, etc. It has a decent range of quality and compression settings.

The best part of this application is its price! It is sold for only $20.00 US!

Dell is buying EqualLogic!

Posted by Administrator on Nov 9, 2007

Dell is buying Equal Logic one of the best iSCSI SAN solution manufactures.

This is definitely exciting. The press release on Dell’s website indicates intentions to integrate functionality from the Equal Logic’s products into the PowerVault line of storage products currently offered by Dell.

This is also appealing to see that the support, maintenance and warranty of the product could be wrapped into Dell’s existing service offering. Which has proven itself time and time again to me. It seems as though the sale is going to take a long time before it is final, which is unfortunate. You never know though, things could speed up.
